A Girl and her Yarn

Welcome to my tiny-but-sweet (and fiber-filled) corner of the net, where a cup of tea and a good book are never far from reach.

I’m Fauna, the fiber artist behind all that is SophieChic.  My goal is to create beautiful, unique pieces that help commemorate a new life, the love of a friend or family member, or the timelessness of something grand you’ll pass down for generations.

My late grandmother, Karen, taught me to crochet at the age of 7 — my first real project was a scrap-yarn blanket when I was 12, done in all single crochet.  It was roughly 7′ x 4′, lop-sided, and it took forever, but it taught me a good lesson (as well as kept me warm!).

More recently, I’ve been hunting for ways to push myself in my craft.  I’ve become interested in other fiber-related crafts, such as knitting and Tunisian crochet, and I’ve fallen in love with natural fibers and the process of hand-spinning.  I own a Louet wheel and hope to someday soon be spinning my own quality yarn to use in my creations!

When I don’t have a hook in my hand, I am helping my wonderful husband raise our six beautiful children.

I hope you enjoy my items as much as I enjoy making them ❤

Are you a photographer?  I love working with photographers!  If you are interested in purchasing my items for use in your business, please contact me and include a link to your portfolio ❤

Do you have a question or comment that hasn’t been answered in my blog?  Please feel free to send me a message — I’d love to hear from you!
